I regularly get asked about my GitHub avatar/profile picture.

Upon closer look, its clearly a Starbucks coffee cup with my name written onto it.

Of course, there's a little story behind that. It's actually from one of the few times that an American Starbucks barista got my name right.

"Why?" do you ask? Well apparently, the name Wolfgang is too exotic for the typical Starbucks barista. Usually the conversation goes like this:

Barista: So, what's your name?
Me: Wolfgang.
Barista: Said that again, please?
Me: Wolfgang!
Barista: ...
Me: (sighs) ... Walter?
Barista: Alright, Walter!

Once, this happened:

Barista: So, what's your name?
Me: Wolfgang.
Barista: Said that again, please?
Me: Wolfgang!
Barista: (writes something on cup, mumbles)
Me: (looks at cup) MORPHGAR!?

So, yes. My profile picture is from one of the rare occasions when they got my actual name right.

Thinking about it tough, I might a worn a conference badge with my name on it - so I'm not sure if that event counts 😆.
