Windows 8 Release News
July 10, 2012Good news everyone :-)
There have been some interesting announcements today regarding (general) availability of Windows 8.
Today, Microsoft held its annual Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto, Canada. Tami Reller (Windows Chief Marketing Officer) shared some exciting new details regarding Windows 8:
- Windows 8 will reach its RTM (Release to Manufacturing) stage in the first week of August, i.e. that enterprise customers or generally MSDN subscribers will get their hand on the bits at this time.
- Also, the Windows Store will go live at this time and developers can start making money from their Windows 8 apps.
- General Availability (GA) for Windows 8 will be reached by the end of October. This again means that many of new devices, we are all so eagerly waiting for, will hit the stores then (I personally hope, that this includes Surface).
Another interesting fact that presented by Tami Reller was about Windows 7, which is with 630 million licenses officially the best selling and most successful operating system of all times.
