Since I have an unbranded and unlocked Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone - which I passionately love btw :-) - I have been eagerly waiting for the current Tango update, which has been announced by Nokia for June 27^th.

The rollout of this update depends on your country and the individual operators though and its status can be monitored on the Nokia Website. In Austria, A1 is currently the only provider with an Update available status on this web site.

Since my mobile is unlocked, in my opinion it should be among the first devices that actually receive the update (anyone got an idea why this is not the case?). So I got tired of waiting and applied the good old “cable unplug trick” that already worked smoothly for the Mango update:

1. USB-connect your Lumia to your PC and launch Zune.
2. Deactivate WIFI on your Lumia (and already switch to the data connection screen).
3. Start looking for updates in Zune.
4. Immediately deactivate any network connection (WIFI / Ethernet) on your PC.
5. After 10 – 15 seconds deactivate data connection on your Lumia.
6. Zune finds the Tango update, activate network connection on your PC and launch the update

Note: If it does not work at first try, just repeat steps 3 – 6. It worked for me one the second attempt.
